Waste Recycling

Paper and Packaging Recycling

Churchill assists waste producers in improving their resource efficiency and reducing operating costs by increasing recycling. We are dedicated to helping our customers reduce their environmental impact by continued investment in new technologies to broaden the scope of our re-processing services whilst developing sustainable markets for secondary materials.

With firm established links to three of the countries largest re-processors and working partnerships with smaller recycling companies, we can help you look for a cost neutral and in some cases a sustainable revenue stream from your waste products.

For potential clients with waste streams consisting of paper, cardboard, plastics or wood, we have systems in place and client referrals to show how we have reduced landfill, increased efficiency and saved time and money. Please feel free to ask for specific referrals if you require them.

Churchill has the experience and expertise to deal with all your paper and packaging waste.

Remember, your current waste contractor may only be acting as a transport company - more of their profits are made from the transport of your waste than the recycling, therefore it is not in their best interests to provide good recycling advice.

We are committed to offering a flexible and efficient service, tailored to your individual business needs and with an approved list of recycling companies strategically located throughout the country, you are assured of rapid response and a competitive price.

If you are in the print industry, the smooth running of your business is dependent on the effective management of your waste paper. You need to be able to rely on a company to dispose of your waste paper efficiently and on time. WMS have been dealing with the print industry for many years and our experience has led us to develop specialised collection services and equipment specifically for this industry.

If you are in the packaging industry or produce a lot of packaging waste we can provide an extensive range of containers to meet your needs - from 1100 litre wheel bins to compactor bins and stand trailers for the storage and collection of baled waste. Systems to ensure an unrivalled service are provided to meet today's business requirements. This is why our clients enjoy such a high level of satisfaction.

Plastic Recycling

Confidential Waste Recycling

Did you know that one tonne of waste plastic, if recycled; is enough to produce 120,000 supermarket carrier bags or 20,000 two litre drinks bottles?

The disposal method of plastic products contributes significantly to their environmental impact. Most plastics take a long time to biodegrade, often several hundred years once they have been land filled. With more and more plastics products, particularly plastics packaging, being disposed of so soon after their purchase, the landfill space required by plastics waste is a growing concern.

Currently 80% of post-consumer plastic waste is sent to landfill, 8% is incinerated and only 7% is recycled. At Churchill we can offer an alternative to landfill. With over fifty different grades of plastic available in the UK, why not let the experts advise you on the best way to maximise your profit potential from unwanted plastic and polythene. We have many years experience in the grading, processing and trading of waste plastics and through our network of plastic waste merchants, we can ensure that all recyclable material can be removed from the waste stream. By participating in the recycling process you will strengthen and build the recycling industry whilst also helping to improve the environment in which we live.

Churchill can offer grading advice and collection services on a very wide and diverse range of plastic films and hard grade plastics.

We can arrange the most suitable collection method to suit your material, this includes loose hard plastics and baled film in various sizes.

Laboratory analysis is available for more specialist materials.

The secure disposal of confidential documents is essential to all businesses and organisations for reasons of commercial integrity and compliance with government legislation.
Under the Data Protection Act you must destroy, under secure conditions, any data containing personal information, failure to do so is a criminal offence.
Some examples of the data included within this remit are listed below:

  • payroll data
  • financial reports
  • job applications
  • customer records
  • minutes of meetings

These are just a few examples of information that could embarrass or compromise your company if not disposed of securely.

Churchill take the worry out of finding a suitably qualified contractor by using a network of long-established, accredited companies who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Registered carrier of waste under the Duty of Care of the Environment Protection Act
  • Members of an accredited organisation (BSIA) British Security Industry Association or (UKSSA) United Kingdom Security Shredding Association
  • All vehicles and containers located by British Standard tracking devices
  • Selection and vetting of staff must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of BS7858
  • All material to be destroyed within 24 hrs of collection
  • All material to be destroyed to the agreed Ministry of Defence standard size
  • Numbered seals and the issuing of an Approved Destruction Certificate
  • Compared with other methods of destruction and disposal, security shredding has the least impact on the environment.
  • All shredded material goes to UK paper mills for recycling. This material will then be used to make products such as toilet tissues and high quality writing papers.

Wood Recycling

It has been estimated that businesses in the UK produce 2 million tonnes of wood waste each year; this may come from manufacturing processes or from packaging, such as pallets and packing cases. As disposal of waste becomes ever more expensive for businesses, recycling and reusing wood waste will often be a more cost effective option. Churchill provides wood treatment and recycling services for businesses.

At Churchill, we can supply a number of collection services for many wood products including:
  • Scrap pallets
  • Packaging crates
  • Solid timber
  • Posts
  • Plywood
  • Chipboard (not melamine coated)

We can supply various collection methods, to suit your particular need, ranging from skip, to 35 cubic yard open roll-on containers to stand trailer vehicles for larger quantities.
